Recyclable Metals Policy

Continuum Powders Recyclable Metals Program

Thank you for your interest in Continuum Powders and our metal recycling program. We’re committed to advancing sustainable manufacturing by recycling high-performance alloys into premium powders for additive manufacturing. Below, you’ll find detailed information about the materials we accept, our process, and the benefits of partnering with us.

What We Accept

    • Alloys: We offer account credit for the following alloys:
      • Ti-64 Grade 23
      • Ni 625
      • Ni 718
      • 316L SS
      • 17-4PH SS
      • C300 Tool Steel
      • Mar M247

If you’re interested in recycling additional alloys, please contact us to discuss.

Metal Scrap Types:

 – Solids: Builds, support structures, machining chips (must be clean and oil free), ITAR builds.

 – Powders: Must be dry and free of foreign object debris (FOD). We cannot accept wet powders or powders captured by printer filters.

How the Process Works

1. Sample Evaluation:

– Send us or allow us to collect a small powder sample (200–300 grams) and/or one or two representative solids.

– We’ll inspect the material for FOD, moisture, and oils.

2. Container Logistics:

– Once the terms are agreed upon, we’ll deliver a container to your facility or use suitable containers already on-site.

– Continuum covers all domestic freight costs.

3. Shipping and Handling:

– Fill the container with solid material, place powder containers with appropriate material inside, and complete the shipping documents.

– For Ti-64 Grade 23 powder, special shipping containers (UN-rated) and hazardous material documentation are required.

NOTE: Contents should clearly state “Recyclable Metals” not waste or scrap

4. Material Processing and Credit Issuance:

– Our technicians evaluate the material, and credit details are forwarded to our accounting team.

– We atomize the material into high-quality powder for additive manufacturing, and the credit is applied to your next powder purchase.

– Please note that while the geometry and conditions outlined in the Feedstock Requirement document are preferred, we may accept larger or coated units. However, any additional preparation required for atomization will result in a deduction from your credit.

Additional Benefits

– Credits are based on current market prices for the waste we collect and can use.

 – LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) information and green tax credits are available to our recycling partners.

By partnering with Continuum Powders, you’re not only contributing to a circular metal economy but also helping to make additive manufacturing more sustainable and your manufacturing process more self-sustainable. Together, we’re creating a smarter, greener future for advanced manufacturing.
