Optipowder Ni 718 Superalloy is used in numerous applications of heavy industry, often found in structural parts that encounter extreme operating temperatures and corrosive environments. It has exceptional combination of strength, hardness and corrosion resistance.
Machining can be performed while the material is in a stress relieved or annealed condition to minimize tooling wear. After aging, a fine grain structure should develop, resulting in high fatigue strength and good stress rupture properties. Oxygen addition during printing may result in lower high temperature strength or lower cryogenic impact strength. Printed and wrought mechanical properties are similar assuming equivalent chemistry, microstructure, and porosity.
